Please call the representatives in your state listed below (even if they aren't your reps!) and ask them to be co-sponsors. As we heard at the ETAN national strategy meeting, an international tribunal is a priority for our friends in East Timor. Let's do what we can to help make it reality!

Hello, I am calling to encourage Represenative Doggett to become a co-sponsor of a resolution to be introduced next week by Congressperson Lane Evans calling for US support for the creation of an international tribunal for crimes against humanity in East Timor. For the East Timorese people, US pressure for an international tribunal is the top foreign policy priority, and also serves as a means by which to pressure Indonesia to hold its own military accountable for gross violations of human rights within Indonesia and to deter further human rights abuses by the military. Since the overwhelming destruction of East Timor in 1999, no Indonesian military personnel have been held accountable
