Campus Antiwar Movement to End the Occupations- -

* Please forward and circulate *

Presidential-hopeful Barack Obama will be speaking in Austin this Friday, February 23, at Auditorium Shores.

Join CAMEO and other antiwar groups to tell Obama “Antiwar Candidates Don’t Fund War” and “Don’t Attack Iran!”

Meet us at 12:00 noon at the corner of S. 1st and Riverside to join our contingent and tell Barack “Troops Home Now!”CAMEO will move to the entrance at Auditorium Shores with banners and visuals demanding that Obama take action on his reputation as an antiwar politician.

Obama has positioned himself as the antiwar candidate, but he has done little with his powers as a Senator to actually stop the war. Through 2005 and 2006 he voted for bills giving supplemental funds for the war, as well as the reauthorization of the PATRIOT Act. Obama has called for “phased redeployment” with US troops remaining in Baghdad. Those who are against war and
occupation in Iraq need to pressure Obama to take a stand and bring the troops home now!

In 2004, Obama said he would support missile strikes into Iran and Pakistan. Let’s tell him that we are opposed to war and destruction in Iraq *and the rest of the Middle East*.

Most of Obama’s audience will be people against the war in Iraq. We want to get those people plugged into an antiwar movement that can actually shut down the US war machine. Sixty percent of the U.S. population believes that invading Iraq was wrong and 40% believe we should deny funding for it now. Therefore, we feel it is only fair to demand from Obama antiwar action
now!
