Don’t miss your chance to see Austin ’s best young spoken word artists compete for a place in the semi-finals of the Austin City-Wide Under 21 Poetry Slam! Texas Youth Word Collective’s third season of the Austin City-Wide Under 21 Poetry Slam continues with Slam #6!

This is the last qualifying slam of the season, so all of you poets who have competed in earlier slams, this is your last chance to compete for one of the top three spots and earn a place in the Semi-Finals! The top five scoring poets from this slam will move on to the Semi-Finals (provided they have competed in at least one other qualifying slam this season).

This season the poetry has been hotter than ever with students competing from schools across the Greater Austin area including Bastrop , Cedar Park , Austin , Hendrickson, LBJ, Westwood, Pflugerville, Manor and St. Stephen’s Episcopal High Schools, as well as Austin Community College joining in the competition. The following youth have prequalified for the semi-final competition next month: Ruby Willmann and Colleen Mayo (LBJ H.S.), Brent Caballero (Hendrickson H.S.), Margaret Olsen (Cedar Park H.S.), Shaina, Sheenika “D-Lyte” Medard, and Pravda (Pflugerville H.S.), Shay (Reagan H.S.), and Cora Lee (Austin High), Amanda (San Marcos H.S.), Jermaine Marshall & Shamona Craddock (Manor H.S.).
