Do Not Execute Patrick Knight

The state of Texas is set to execute Patrick Knight on June 26 for the murders of Walter and Marry Ann Werner in August 1991.

Texas should not execute Knight for his role in these crimes. Executing Knight would violate the right to life as declared in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and constitute the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. Knight’s counsel called no witnesses during the sentencing phase of the trial. Also, the state neglected to give Knight enough money to for an in-depth neurological exam to look into possible brain damage he suffered as a child. His codefendant received a life imprisonment sentence.

Please write to Gov. Rick Perry on behalf of Patrick Knight!

The Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty holds vigils across the state on days when executions are scheduled. In Austin the vigil is held across from the Governor’s Mansion on Lavaca from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. We need your help to raise awareness about this policy and how the people of Texas really feel about it.
