Stop Hunger in Texas

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 * 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Congregational Church of Austin * 408 West 23rd Street * Austin, TX

You’re Invited to Help Stop Hunger in Texas!

A Special Presentation on the Farm Bill and Food Stamp Program by CPPP Senior Policy Analyst Celia Hagert

More than 68,000 people in Travis County rely on Food Stamps to put a decent meal on the table. Statewide, 2.3 million Texans (more than the entire population of Houston) use Food Stamps. The Food Stamp Program helps low-income working families, seniors, and persons with disabilities make ends meet during periods of unemployment or economic downturns. Congress will vote on the 2007 Farm Bill and reauthorization of the Food Stamp Program at the end of this month.

At a free special event co-hosted by the Center for Public Policy Priorities and Micah 6, CPPP Senior Policy Analyst Celia Hagert will provide an overview of this life-saving program, and tell you what you can do to make a difference NOW.
