Funds will be used to send two high school activists to the Student/Farmworker Alliance Encuentro in Immokalee, Florida at the end of August. The SFA is a youth-comprised, national network organizing to support the Coalition of Immokalee Workers – http://www.ciw-online.org. All events are sliding scale. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
WED 8/22 at 8:30 p.m. – Screening of Fried Green Tomatoes with food and discussion at MonkeyWrench Books, 110 E North Loop.
THU 8/23 at 8 p.m. – Bike in movie (Charlie Kaufman’s “Adaptation”) and concert (Teddy and Marge) at The Opera House, 2209 S. 1st Street.
FRI 8/24 at 8:30 p.m. – A collective analysis of Burger King’s new ad campaign at CafĂ© Mundi, 1704 E 5th Street.
SAT 8/25 at 6 p.m. – Festival for Fair Food Now with bands (Jupiter Four, Diving Captain, Code Rainbow, For Hours and Ours, Cranes of the Republic, The Bubbles, April Kaplowitz) at AFL-CIO Union Hall, 1106 Lavaca Street.
