Monday, September 17, 8:00 PM, DISCUSSION ON ACADEMIC FREEDOM, MonkeyWrench Books, 110 E. North Loop Blvd.
This past June, scholar and activist Norman Finkelstein, known for his criticism of the state of Israel, was denied tenure at DePaul University. Then, at the end of August, students were informed that Finkelstein’s classes had been cancelled. What went into these decisions? And what have students and professors been doing about it?
UT Professor Robert Jensen will lead a discussion of the events and the broader question of academic freedom.
Sponsored by Campus Antiwar Movement to End the Occupation (CAMEO)
