Neighborhood Dialogue on Police Relations
The Austin Center for Peace and Justice and Austin Community College are sponsoring a Neighborhood Dialogue on Police Relations. We are inviting members of Austin neighborhood associations and all concerned Austin citizens to attend and participate in this event, which we hope will become a dialogue between our neighborhoods and all citizens and the Austin Police Department. Chief Acevedo will be the keynote speaker. Break-out groups will follow Chief Acvedo’s presentation with staff members of the Austin Police Department as presenters. The groups will be facilitated by members of Austin Center for Peace and Justice.

Please come with your neighborhood concerns. The break-out sessions will provide opportunities to share your concerns and to learn about your rights and responsibilities when confronted with law enforcement officials.
*Some questions to be answered:
What are my rights when stopped by the police? What do I need to provide the police when stopped? If police direct me to pull over at night, can I drive to a lighted spot or to an open business? In which situations can I expect to be asked to get out of my car? Am I required to do so?
It is our goal to promote a spirit of unity in our diverse city. We hope to achieve fair and just standards for all Austinites. We look forward to seeing and meeting you at what we hope will be a
significant event in Austin.
Sincerely,
Donald Bobb, President of the Board of Directors
