Rising Tide Climate Action Workshop

March 26, 2008 at 7pm, at the University of Texas in MEZ 1.120

United Student Activists will be presenting a workshop conducted by Rising Tide to connect the dots between the overarching crisis of climate change and the grassroots struggles of communities resisting the fossil fuel industry’s assault on their land and culture. Rising Tide’s Workshop will take a popular education approach to organizing and agitating for climate justice, employing music, participatory games and multi-media to foment life-affirming resistance.

This workshop is supported and organized by United Students Activists, a student group at the University of Texas in Austin that links activists on campus with the larger Austin community, and raises awareness about current issues.

Rising Tide is an international network born out of the conviction that corporate-friendly and
state-sponsored “solutions” to climate change will not save us. As a matter of survival, we must decrease our dependence on the industries and institutions that are destroying the planet and work toward community autonomy and sustainable living.
