Sehba Sarwar’s first novel Black Wings was published in 2004 (Alhamra Publishing) and her essays, poems and stories have been published in newspapers, anthologies and magazines in India, Pakistan and the USA. Her work appears in The News on Sunday (Pakistan), Alhamra Literary Journal, Ellipsis, Neither Night Nor Day (Harper Collins, India), and And The World Changed (an anthology of Pakistani women writers, forthcoming in the fall through the Feminist Press). Currently based in Houston, she returns regularly to Karachi (Pakistan) for writing inspiration. Sarwar is currently working on a second novel set largely along the Pakistani coastline.
Sarwar will read from her novel as well as talk about the political situation in Pakistan; she returned in January 2008 and her essay about her winter trip to Karachi was recently published in The New York Times’ Sunday Magazine.
