Dear Austin Friends, Creative Music Fans, and People for Peace, Something Special is happening this September 25th- Alex Coke, with the Creative Opportunity Orchestra (and some special guests), will perform the illuminating composition, Iraqnophobia, at the Salvage Vanguard Theatre. To me, its the perfect inspiration for us all to come together again in a meaningful way, on what is now 7 years after the World Trade Centre tragedy and too much war. (Tickets $10.)
The past 7 years have been overwhelming, trying to gain some clarity about the destruction in Iraq and the reasons behind it. There are so many questions still unanswered, vast amounts of resource being mispent, and far too many lives being wasted. This expressive, dynamic music speaks so beautifully and energetically to this time in our history, and i an hoping you and yours will join us for this live performance.
Alan Pogue’s stunning photos will grace the side gallery as well as the slideshow that accompanies the music. and we will be there, in memoriam, and to enliven our work towards a more compassionate politic for all.
Please, tell everyone you know or meet. Send this email forward and spread the word. Come to listen. Visit with each other or make new friends. Pray. Think. Impel your proactivity. Support these artists in an edifying moment of Creative Activism. We need each other in all our collective consciousness now and this event is the perfect place for us to share in each other’s efforts.
The time and date are posted below. Please don’t hesitate to call or email if you want to talk or need more information or media to pass along to the organizations you support.
I’m looking forward to being with all of you this September 25th, to share the experience of the music and find hope in each other’s presence.
In peace,
Nicki
