“God Thinks You’re a Loser,” an edgy, raunchy “immorality play,” has been called outrageous and even blasphemous. Much of the film is set in Hell — though a personal and indiosyncratic hell, to be sure. Director Chason says the film is “a zany comedy about strippers and oil men” with “plenty of kinky sex, drugs, and the reckless pursuit of sensual pleasure.” “God could care less about all that,” says Chason, “but it is when others get hurt, or killed, that the perpetrator is doomed.”
“God Thinks You’re a Loser” was produced by Andrew D. Fraser
and Lou Manitzas and was written by Chason and John Dean. It stars Sue Rock, David Born, Foster Davis, Bill Wise, Annika Peterson and Natasha Melnick. According to the venue’s Mike Henry, The Independent, where the screening will take place, is “Austin’s new home for live performance, independent art, and media production.” Located in the 501 Studio Complex. The entrance is on Brushy Street, one block east of I-35. Henry formerly owned the Electric Lounge, a fixture in Austin nightlife in the 1990′s.
Gary Chason’s South Austin Pictures is a “fiercely independent” production company committed to creating “movies that don’t fit easily into formulaic genres but which reach audiences at a deeper level, sometimes touching a few nerve endings in the process.”
