Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27 and 28, 5:15 PM: UT campus, Tuesday meeting in Texas Union building, Chicano Culture room 4.206; Wednesday meeting in RLM 7.112
UT administrators are slashing the jobs of instructors and staff workers in colleges and departments across the campus. There is, however, no great budget crisis at UT that would mandate such cuts. Nevertheless, the administration is pressing forward with what is described by the Chief Financial Officer as a “new business model” — refashioning UT as a more elite institution at the expense of quality education and the livelihoods of those deemed expendable. The Texas State Employees Union is pressing a campaign to stop the cuts. Whether you’re a student at UT or work there, join this urgent campaign to defend education and jobs.
