This year’s National Peacemaker Award Recipient and Keynote Speaker is Helen Thomas, doyenne of the White House Press Corps.
Thomas has covered the administrations of ten presidents in a career spanning nearly sixty years. Other awardees will be recognized for their leadership and dedication to peace and justice work, including Ann Wright, retired United States Army colonel and retired official of the U.S. State Department, known for her outspoken opposition to the Iraq War. She is most noted for having been one of three State Department officials to publicly resign in direct protest of the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.
The awards dinner is the annual fund raiser for the Houston Peace and Justice Center and provides a large percentage of the funds needed to carry on HPJC’s important work. Reception with cash bar at 6 pm, dinner at 7 pm. Tickets are $75, with subsidized seats available. Reserve your tickets now.
